1. Mandatory Annual IP Training for DORS
Click “Upcoming Trainings” to register for your required Mandatory IP Training. Understand job requirements, timesheets, and learn how to fight against fraud, abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.
2. New Hire Orientation
Take this first and only one time! New Hire Orientation (NHO) must be taken within 3 months/90 days from your activation/hire date. Gain critical information about your work by reviewing the job requirements, timecards, and various policies & procedures that that develop a strong foundation for success.
Bathing & Bedmaking
Work with the safest and most efficient techniques that protect a consumer's dignity while making an occupied bed, bathing, and helping with grooming and personal hygiene.
Body Mechanics and Safe Lifting
Prevent injury with proper body mechanics.
First Aid and CPR (DORS Only)
Learn to recognize and respond to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies and to use an Automatic External Defibrillator.
HCII Mental Health Wellness Programming 4 Part Series
The Mental Health Initiative’s Psychoeducational Series recognizes and prioritizes the importance of mental health education, community building, and community empowerment for our membership at SEIU HCII.
Navigating Stress and Understanding Trauma for Caregivers
This class introduces participants to the ways trauma and chronic stress affect the brain, body, and behavior. We will explore different types of trauma, stress responses, and how they can show up in everyday life through a neuroscience and relational framing.
Nutrition and Exercise for People with Disabilities
Apply the latest guidelines on healthy living habits that can improve the lives of people who have disabilities.
Strengthening Communication Skills
Respond to challenging situations with effective verbal communication skills.
Understanding Grief and Loss: Experiences, Impact and Collective Healing
This class offers a compassionate space to explore the many forms of grief and how we experience loss across cultures and identities. Participants will learn about the stages and cycles of grief, as well as the emotional and physical impacts it can have.

Protect yourself and your consumer from infection and disease.
Working Effectively with My Consumers to Solve Problems
Manage personal and work boundaries and explore ways to present a problem constructively to your consumer-employer.
Working with a Consumer who is Depressed
Recognize the signs of depression and learn how to respond while managing your own emotional reactions.

Additional Resources
The Nutrition and Exercise for People with Physical Disabilities course was very good. It prompted us to think outside of our comfort zone when it comes to nutrition and yet feel comfortable speaking about it. I also enjoyed the break out sessions. Those gave us an opportunity to learn food habits based on culture.
