Gustavo Adolfo Orellana-McCarthy has been part of METC since March 2020 as Instruction Manager. He oversees our team of Facilitators and Instructors for online and in-person classes. Prior to METC, he served as Lead Organizer for HCII’s Member Leadership & Action Program. Gustavo’s academic background in Educational Psychology, Adult Education, and Sociology has helped him, and his instructional team, to constantly improve the quality of our training sessions. One of the favorite parts of his job is that it combines two of his passions, Labor Unions, and education. He likes all METC classes but feels particularly attached to “Introduction to Virtual Learning Platforms and Online Tools” because he helped create the curriculum and taught it for over a year.
Born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras; as a Spanish native speaker, and as an immigrant, Gustavo brings another perspective to our program, highlighting the importance of providing a diverse, multicultural, multilingual, and inclusive space for everyone, staff, and member registrants. Gustavo is a former grantee of the international exchange program Fulbright-LASPAU, and currently lives with his husband Frank, and fur babies Maebh and Macondo in La Porte, IN.
