Martin Shalloo

Finance and Operations Manager

Martin Shalloo has worked with SEIU METC since November 2013 in a variety of roles including Project Director and Manager of Finance and Compliance. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of the New Hire Training from a Pilot program to Statewide, coordinated the launch of the Mandatory Training for DORS IPs and helped to launch the initial METC training program for Child Care Providers. In addition to program management, he successfully secured funds from the Dept. of Labor for Pilot Labor Management Partnership Programs with a pair of Safety Net Hospitals, oversaw the OSHA Health and Safety Training Program, implemented a privately funded Enhanced Home Care Training Series and has been responsible in a various of capacities for implementation, reporting and compliance of nearly $25M DORS and Child Care Training Program contracts.

Mr. Shalloo is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Architecture. Prior to joining the METC, Mr. Shalloo managed grassroots non-profit organizations for over 26 years. He played a variety of roles including managing startup housing development projects, coordinating housing development and renovation projects in several states, and raised over $30M in funding from federal, state, and private grants which provided subsidies to leverage affordable financing options for working families. In addition to coordinating these projects he was responsible for compliance on the grants and financing and later helping the manage finances and compliance on multi-million-dollar federal housing counseling and foreclosure prevention grant. He was a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco Affordable Housing Advisory Board, a member of the Phoenix Housing Commission, a board member in his Church and a board member of the Chicago Rehab Network.

Through his long history of working with members fighting for better jobs, stronger communities, and more affordable housing, he developed an appreciation for their strength and commitment. Celebrating the successes of our members is by far his favorite part of this work.
