Pat Twymon started her career with SEIU METC as a Senior Program Assistant in February of 2021, and is currently the Program Manager for Child Care with SEIU METC since February 2023, and is honored to work with educators throughout the State of Illinois. One of Pat’s favorite parts about working at METC is having the opportunity to assist educators in reaching their full professional potential, whether that is securing grants, earning credentials, providing information on obtaining higher education, or creating and vetting high quality curriculum. Her favorite training for educators is the Child Care FA/CPR because it is critically important that they know what steps to take if anyone in or out of their programs should experience a situation that requires these life-saving measures. As FA/CPR is only held in-person, it also allows for networking and peer-to-peer support.
Before joining SEIU METC, Pat ran a successful Group Family Child Care business for 28 years. She obtained her Gold Circle of Quality through ExceleRate Illinois, NAFCC Accreditation, Child Development Associates Credential (CDA), ECE Credential Level 5, Infant Toddler Credential Level 5, Family Child Care Credential Level 5, and Illinois Director Credential Level II. As a life-long advocate, Pat is a part of several committees and advisory groups focusing on the needs of Family Child Care Educators. Throughout her career, she has mentored hundreds of educators in all-things child care. She is honored to have received recognition for her work and years of service in the Early Childhood Field; 2009 Kohl McCormick Teaching Award, 2010 Illinois Action for Children Shining Star Award, 2018 SEIU METC ECE Credential Instructor Award, 2022 Illinois Action for Children Champion for Children Award. Pat’s motto is to leave the ECE Field and its Educators more empowered than she found them, and through her own trials, successes, and opportunities, she is getting it done! Pat lives with her husband Steven and mother-in-law LuRetha in Suburban Cook County.
