Elizabeth Guzman is a Program Assistant for the DORS team and has been with SEIU METC since November of 2021. Elizabeth comes with a history in the home care and healthcare field. She started her professional career in nonprofit special recreation in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. During her experiences of working with individuals with intellectual disabilities of all ages; she quickly recognized her passion in supporting the geriatric community. Elizabeth furthered her career in home care and nursing home care industry for nearly 7 years. Elizabeth comes from a family of home care and nursing home workers. Elizabeth and her sister share passion of working with the geriatric community as her sister also worked as a home care worker and nursing home caretaker; due to the nature of the work, her sister injured her back and since has not been able to work in the field instead has shifted to driving patients to medical appointments. Elizabeth saw the need to support home care workers and nursing home workers as the work was intrinsically rewarding but not easy.
Elizabeth is a proud advocate for homecare workers; her favorite part is connecting members to resources offered within the METC. In her personal time, Elizabeth loves to spend quality time with her husband and son. Elizabeth’s favorite leisure activities include nature walks and trying new restaurants.
